Reviews for Sites Visited

Please note that my comments regarding a site are for that visit only, and should not be taken as a reason not to go. (double click any photo to enlarge)

Many factors can make or break your visit, the other holiday makers around you, noisy televisions, dogs running around, misbehaved children and the like, can ruin a lovely site while you are there, but they do go away.

We started out being members of the Caravan Club and the Camping and Caravan Club.

We have since dropped the Caravan Club whilst the Club is great and has many excellent features. But some site managers just love the rules and regulations and on our travels we heard many tales of ruined holidays due to managers. And along with some sites having a no awning rule which is a must have thing for the Freedom, as we live in ours and just sleep in the Caravan.

But the main reason for leaving the Caravan Club was the rude people we encountered, that said we came across some lovely folk on Caravan Club sites, but when we are away I prefer not to have to deal with the stuck up snobby members or regimental site managers.

  1. Hi John. Thanks for following my blog. Although I prefer just one vehicle and don’t like towing, so have a campervan, your site info is really interesting. I’ve avoided both the clubs so have never heard of ‘no awning’ rules; that’s crazy! However, we favour very basic (cheap!) sites as we rarely do long stays and have most of our needs on hand (with the drive-away awning!). Aiming, if health allows, to do a five week tour to Romania this coming summer so we might frequent a few more ‘luxurious’ sites on our way down through Germany and Austria. Nice to find another ‘blogger’ in Menston.

    • Thanks Grumpytyke That VW sure gets about, it’s the Yorkshire in me that likes the smaller cheaper sites, we tend to sick in England as I cannot do long journeys, five weeks is to long to be away in our van, after 10 days my back longs for my own bed. Beside there is so much in this country we have yet to see, so four or five trips away makes it fun planning where to go and sees us though the year.
      all the best John
